Hummus
Hummus is one of the simple, satisfying and delicious appetizers. You can create different flavors by adding dried tomatoes or basil to hummus recipes, which are usually served with fried oil and chili peppers. Hummus can be spread on toasted bread slices or consumed as a snack or dip. So, what and how is hummus made from?
Middle Eastern flavor hummus is one of the leading appetizers made from chickpeas. It is made by adding lemon juice, garlic, salt, cumin, red pepper and olive oil to hummus, chickpeas and tahini. It is also written and read as Houmous and Hummus. Hummus means chickpea in Arabic. Dry chickpeas are kept in water beforehand to soften. Soft chickpeas are placed in a pot after the water is drained. Add enough fresh water to cover them and boil until the shells separate. Boiled chickpeas are peeled and crushed with some water (it is also boiled water) until they become puree. Crushed garlic, tahini, lemon juice are added to this puree and the spice and salt are adjusted. Adding cumin, mint, dill is optional. A little oil is added to thicken the consistency and water is added to open it.
A mixture of extra virgin olive oil is drizzled on the plate and finely chopped parsley and ground red pepper are added. One or two boiled chickpeas can be added in the middle for ornamental purposes. Served with half a loaf of bread, pita slices, preferably olives and pickles.
