In order to establish a common standard in the Islamic World, to provide certification in accordance with these standards and to solve the accreditation problem, studies were started at the Economic and Commercial Cooperation Standing Committee of the Islamic World Organization (COMCEC). Islamic Conference held in Istanbul in 2007 within the body of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). With the establishment of the Islamic Countries Standards and Metrology Institute (SMIIC) on 02.10.2010, this work was transferred to SMIIC. Thanks to the SMIIC standards, an important step has been taken in the implementation of common standards instead of different standards in Islamic countries.
